Charitable Students

Our students have displayed great community spirit by supporting various charities during term 1 and 2.

Firstly, they hosted a Macmillan cake sale for Cancer Research, which was a big success and everyone enjoyed; raising an impressive £82.97.  In early November, two students, Kyle and Kerstin, sold poppies at school for Remembrance Day. Kyle said "As an army cadet, it gives me great pride to collect money to support our service men and women as well as their families from both past and current wars."

Currently, SSB student Dannie, has set up three charity collections for Christmas. These are; The Food Bank, Beacon’s Breakfast for Homeless and The Mayor’s Toy Collection.

The Food Bank supports people currently facing hardships and need help. Any donations that are none perishable, would be appreciated.

The name – Beacon’s Breakfast for Homeless – gives a clear idea of this charity's aims. If you can donate any tins of beans or biscuits, this would make a real difference.

The Mayor’s Toy Collection gives children, who otherwise would not be receiving gifts over the festive period, donated toys. These can be new, or second hand in excellent condition and should be suitable for boys and girls aged from baby to teenagers.

Please also come and visit us at Winter Wonderland on Friday 8th December, where we will be fundraising for Dogs for Good.

We are really proud of our students at SSB and hope that our charitable students continue in these virtuous efforts.
