Engineering & Computer Science

The Banbury Aspirations Campus has been provided with a great opportunity to strengthen the provision for Engineering and Computer Science by a grant from AAT centrally. There is limited provision of DT/Engineering in Space Studio Banbury (SSB) however there is an existing DT space in Banbury Academy which required investment to be able to teach engineering at both GCSE and A Level. This ongoing project will develop the existing Banbury Campus as a Manufacturing Engineering teaching space (woodwork and metalwork: including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM)) with new equipment and extended facilities and create a Technical Engineering (Computer-aided Design (CAD)) teaching space at SSB, with 32 CAD computer spaces, with new furniture and equipment.

The new facilities will enable the students to gain a qualification that will provide them with the core technical knowledge required for preparing to work in the engineering industry, and reflects the nature of modern engineering, as well as boosting the potential for a career in the computer sciences.

The photos show the ongoing refurbishment of the rooms... watch this space for photos of the finished, fully equipped engineering suite and the CAD teaching space.
