AEP Regional Final Win

A team of Year 12 students have been working in partnership with The Apprenticeship & Training Company at Space Studio Banbury on their Aspirations Employability Portfolio (AEP), which gives students the opportunity to work with businesses on industry-commissioned projects, tackling real workplace challenges and gaining valuable skills and experience to help them prepare for the world of work.

The students decided that they would be called Team Construxtive and that, working with The Apprenticeship & Training Company, they would plan, organise and run a construction careers event for Key Stage 4 students at Space Studio and Banbury Academy. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the wide variety of jobs and career pathways in the construction industry by giving students the opportunity to talk to and hear from a number of different employers and take part in hands-on activities and workshops to get a feel for some of the job roles.

The regional final of the AEP project, which took place at Space Studio Banbury on 20th March, saw student teams pitch their projects to a panel of employers. Team Construxtive – Danny, Riad, Alex, Lauryn and Aimee – gave an informative, professional and well-executed presentation about the careers event they had organised and what they have learnt from the process.

The judges were unanimous in choosing Team Construxtive as their winner!

Thank you to The Apprenticeship & Training Company for their invaluable help and advice.
